Noon-3:30 p.m. Friday
9-11 a.m. Saturday
Imperial A, Ballroom Level

Changing appointment times is not possible. All time-slots are full.

Please arrive 5 minutes early. Bring up to three different issues of newspapers/magazines and most recent literary magazine. Yearbook staffs are encouraged to bring copies of 2023 pages or the book online (laptop required). Broadcast and online staffs should bring their URL open on a laptop ready to show.

Critiques are one of the most helpful — and most popular — features of the convention. Staff members and advisers sit with an experienced adviser or professional journalist and review their student media.

The convention’s on-site media critiques are 25-minute sessions that provide a one-on-one opportunity for students and advisers to ask questions. Each critique session is $30 per staff. Sessions are available for the following student media —

Broadcast
Literary Magazine
Newspaper/Newsmagazine
Website
Yearbook

Critique sessions are offered at the following times during the convention —

Friday, April 21
noon
12:30 p.m.
1 p.m.
1:30 p.m.
2 p.m.
2:30 p.m.
3 p.m.

Saturday, April 22
9 a.m.
9:30 a.m.
10 a.m.
10:30 a.m.

When registering for the convention, advisers may purchase and select from the available sessions. Special requests for times can not be accommodated.

Separate from the registration process, the adviser selects the students who will be attending the critique session, keeping in mind there are seven chairs at the table and others may have to stand. Do not register individual students for critiques — advisers register the student media staff.

The deadline for purchasing and reserving on-site media critiques is April 7. Critique times are limited and often fill-up before the deadline. The final schedule will be posted on the convention website on April 10.

All questions about the NSPA on-site media critiques should be directed to Gary Lundgren, gary@studentpress.org.
